You deserved to be celebrated.
The most beautiful thing I have
ever experienced was when I got packs of Poster Colour for children in my Book
Club. They had brushes with coloured cardboards papers clipped on their drawing
boards; it was a feast of Free Styles.
Children express so much the beauty
and colour of life in their paintings. It’s like a sudden surge of light
through a window just opened to darkroom. Yet, you feel the touch of innocence
and the scent of the sense of natural humour seriously. There would be no
distraction and the things you might think are distractions become their
attraction. They paint it in.
The flexibility of their strokes
and unswerving assertion of colours pass beyond the mastery of Picasso and the
rest of the masters. When they have paints, they simply ignore colour code of
conducts (CCC), and apply arbitrarily that often the paste-remnant become artfully
more colourful than Art.
One that was hellbent on
drawing/painting a chicken i.e Okuko, at a midpoint said, it was no more
chicken she was drawing.
“I am no longer drawing Okuko, it
is Nkita!”
The courage was confusing, the metamorphosis unnaturally
natural: how can a bird being drawn, almost at a completion turned out to
become something of the canine? Nkita means a dog in Igbo language.
I know you will like to see the
pictures. Won’t you? Let me know, so I know what to do next.
However, this page is a special dedication to a
special person: Thembisile.
Her colouring with crayons are far too well
beyond her age.
She deserves this stage of honour
for outstanding performance as a
